Anil Biswas(July 7, 1914 - May 31, 2004)
SANGEET SMRITI, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to the maestro ANIL BISWAS and is a daughter’s memorial to her father
Many would know of his immense contribution to Hindi film music of those times, however most would not know that he was the first to introduce the concept of playback music to Bollywood in the forties. Under his able direction, many legendary singers made careers being the voice behind the heroes and heroines of the silver screen. He and his immensely talented colleagues of those times created music which truly deserves to be an important part of our great national musical heritage.
SMRITI encompasses music-lovers who share a passion for old film songs that were raga-based and thrived on melody and sweetness. Smriti enfolds the kind of fraternity that grew up listening to Radio Ceylon and for whom the song listing on Binaca Geetmala denoted magic and excitement.
If you are a lover of old hindi film music, if your heart goes aflutter at those olden golden songs of the fifties, sixties and seventies, if you feel that strong nostalgia taking over each time you hear the great songs of Mohd. Rafi or Lata Mangeshkar, if you find a soul connection with the music of those times, then come and explore the world of music through Sangeet Smriti.
